10 Questions with Mr. Summa!

This is Mr. Summa’s 5th year at Dan Mills Elementary. He has worked with our school’s exceptional education department for the last four years, and you’ve probably seen him in the front office managing school-wide attendance for the the last two years. He has a new and exciting with the counseling team as the Advocacy Center Coach. He’s providing on-the-spot restorative care to students experiencing dysregulation, and we are so grateful for his presence and passion for our Dragons! We asked him ten questions! Read on below to get to know Mr. Summa!



Describe your what it's like to have your job in just three words:
Social Emotional Helper

When you were in 3rd grade, what was your dream job?
I wanted to be a doctor.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Learning to fail is more important than learning to succeed.

What is your favorite thing about DMES?
The level of true compassion our staff shows are students is amazing.

What does a typical Saturday night look like for you?
Making dinner with friends at home.

Where do you go when you need some inspiration?
I go for hikes or run.

What is one of your hidden talents?
I'm pretty good at tennis.

What's your favorite song to sing karaoke to?
I sing along from the audience to everything.

Who was your favorite teacher when you were in school, and what was it about them that you loved?
Ms. Macalester. She was so creative when it came to teaching biology!
